Reputation Management Consultant Reviews – Who Uses Reputation Management Services

February 28, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

Reputation management is nothing new and for a great number of years now there have been people all over the world who have used companies to ensure that their reputation remains in tact. In the modern age it is the online reputation which people are looking to protect, or perhaps even repair after a social media rant or an ill-timed comment has sent the internet into a spin, damaging your reputation along the way. To find out what kind of people use such services I have done some investigation work, reading through reputation management consultant reviews and speaking with the team at RMC, to see who in fact uses these services.

Businesses

The most common clients are of course business owners who are seeking to ensure that their company has a very positive reputation online. A positive reputation online results in more sales and more profits so it makes sense that this would be a popular choice for any type of business. In most cases these are companies who are looking to get on the front foot with their reputation management but in many cases businesses solicit these services after a crisis which has caused damage to their rep.

Politicians

Politicians will often have their own in-house reputation management advisor but many also use companies which work around the clock to ensure that their public profile is protected. Politicians live and die based on their reputation both online and publicly, and this is why they need to ensure that they are doing all that they can to ensure that it remains as positive as it should. In this case reputation management companies will ensure that their social media is monitored and that any speeches or statements which they make will be carefully thought out in order to maintain their values.

Celebrities

Celebrities also use PR and rep management companies although their desires and demands differ slightly from businesses or from politicians. With celebrities they don’t always want their reputation to be cleaned up as such, because any publicity is good publicity, what these men and women are usually looking for is that their reparation is steered in the direction which they want, perhaps they want a reputation as a bad-boy and this is how they will try to change their reputation.

Individuals

Everyday people also use these rep management services especially when they are looking to apply for a job. Imagine that you have just passed the bar and you are applying for a job with a law firm, they will of course Google your name before you are interviewed and if your social media profile is full of Spring Break pictures, it may not look too good for you. A reputation management firm will be able to clean this up and ensure that your online profile is clean and professional.

As you can see, there is a wide range of people who utilize these services.

Louis Hernandez Jr – Who Will Take The Place of Messi and Ronaldo?

February 28, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

My buddy Louis Hernandez Jr and myself watch a huge amount of football, probably too much if truth be told and such is the way with this beautiful game of ours, we disagree on just about everything. Something which we have slightly agreed on recently was our debate about who will take the mantle from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as their careers come to a close. The first thing that we should mention is that nobody will replace these two, and we should all enjoy the final years of being blessed by such special talents at the same time. Their records will stand for a very long time indeed, but there has to be a king in this game, so who will it be when these two call it a day?

Kylian Mbappe

The obvious choice would be Paris St. Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, a young man who has already left his mark on the game after his scintillating performance in France’s World Cup win in the summer. Mbappe has it all, sheer pace, brute strength and a signature style which sees him terrorize defenders from the right wing position. Strangely, and despite his goal scoring record, Mbappe could probably do with improving his finishing which will of course come in time. If there is anyone who will get close to the legends of Messi and Ronaldo, it will likely be the Frenchman.

Neymar

Neymar is now 27 years of age and for a long time many assumed that he was next in line for the throne. The problem is however, that despite his excellent work with the Brazil national side, his career hasn’t quite gone as expected. For Barcelona he won La Liga twice and the Champions League once, the Champions League success was in a team with Messi, Iniesta and Xavi, which makes his own contribution less impactful and whilst they did well to win La Liga twice, he never really stood out as the star, given that he was in Messi’s shadow. When the time came to step out of Messi’s shadow he took the easy option, the riches of Paris St Germain. At PSG he has won a treble but in the eyes of the world, that isn’t difficult to complete in the French league, especially not with the players that PSG have managed to buy. Neymar needs to prove himself again to be considered in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo, but nobody will be likely to pay the contract which he has at PSG, it all could have been so different.

Harry Kane

As a Spurs fan it is very difficult to say this but if Harry Kane moves to a Real Madrid, Barcelona or even perhaps Man City, he could very well take the mantle of Messi and Ronaldo. Kane will never play like those guys of course but in terms of goal scoring figures, he could most definitely challenge. Nobody wants to see Kane go but he has so much talent that he deserves the success that a move would bring. If Kane were to get into a team like Real and Barca have had in recent years, there is nothing to stop him reaching those dizzying heights, and he certainly has the ambition to do so.

Who do you think the next big thing is? If you want to hear more on this topic from Street Talk Live, feel free to contact us.

American Musical and Dramatic Academy Reviews – Reasons For Supporting Your Child’s College Choice

February 28, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

When I was younger it was my dream to study journalism after high school but my father told me that this wasn’t the plan and that instead I would be reading economics and math, and then following in his footsteps to go into the bank. This was a choice which I wasn’t happy with but then these were the days when you had to do as you were told, or at least I did. All of this came back to me last year when I saw my son, who was planning to study law, reading through the American Musical and Dramatic Academy reviews. I asked him if he was thinking about studying the arts, and he told me that he had already decided that he had. I didn’t like the idea but given my own experience I supported him with it, and here is why you should too if your child makes a college choice which you don’t like.

Hatred

I hated my father for making me study something that I didn’t want and whilst we did eventually get over it, our relationship was never the same again. This isn’t the same as your parents telling you what to do and what not to do, this is them committing your next 3 or 4 years to something which you simply don’t want to do, and that will breed resentment if you force your child into a different choice.

Dreams

My father had dreams that I would walk in his footsteps and become a bank manager like him. As it turned out after college I began an internship as a journalist and that was where I forged my career, writing about finance admittedly! The point is that your dreams aren’t those of your child and you cannot force your dreams and ambitions upon them, it just isn’t fair. You should support your child wherever possible in there pursuit of achieving their dreams and you should be happy that they have the confidence to go after them.

Trust Yourself

This will likely be the first adult decision which your child has ever made and up to this point, you have been raising them to be a conscientious and responsible adult, it is time to put that to the test. This means allowing them the freedom to make errors, the freedom to allow them to make a decision based on what they believe and the freedom to take control of a decision.

Mistakes

Mistakes make us what we are, they are how we learn and they are a key part of our development. You may believe that your child is making a mistake, and they may well be, but it is up to you to let them make that mistake and then use that as a learning curve, you cannot protect them forever and this is the type of decision which you have to let them make on their own.

Risks of Starting a Landscape Business Without Insurance

February 21, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

For many people, starting a landscaping business can be a dream come true. They get to spend most of their days outside, doing what they love and creating impressive landscapes. Of course, this type of business comes with some big risks and if you don’t have the right type of insurance for landscapers, there are many risks.

Here, we are going to take a look at some of the risks that landscapers can encounter when they don’t have landscaper insurance. Keep reading to find out more.

Injury On The Job

One of the biggest risks for landscapers without insurance is the fact that in this business, injuries can happen easily. When you and your staff are working with heavy tools and are out on site, there are many different ways that injuries can occur. Without landscape business insurance, you are putting yourself and your staff at risk of legal issues when an injury occurs.

Weather

When you are working on projects that involve landscapes, it is likely that you are going to be dealing with various types of weather. Bad weather can have a serious effect on any projects that you are working on – either destroying your progress or postponing any work getting done. While this is not your fault, having a project run overtime can cause problems with clients and your reputation. This is why you need to have landscape business insurance which will cover you should bead weather decide to appear.

C:\Users\Ben Beard\Downloads\garden-2179095_960_720.jpg

Equipment

It is likely that you will have had to invest in a lot of equipment to get your landscaping business off the ground and this can be very costly. While you might try your best to look after this equipment, accidents can happen, and it can get lost or damaged. Without landscaper insurance, you might not be able to get any sort of compensation for this lost equipment. This could end up costing you more money than you are making for the next big project that you have. Think about getting some landscape business insurance that covers the cost of your equipment.

Third-Party Injuries

The final risk of starting a landscaping business without insurance is the fact that third-party injuries are relatively common. You cannot predict what the homeowners might do, and they could easily end up getting injured by some equipment that you left lying on their property. This could leave you with a big problem when they make a claim against your business. This is why you need to think about getting some insurance that will cover this type of accident.

Final Verdict

There really are no benefits to ignoring landscaper insurance for your business except for cutting costs at the time. In the long-run, the cost benefits of landscaper business insurance will outweigh the initial cost of the policy. Make sure to get some landscaping business insurance to cover your new venture and you will have peace of mind that you are covered should anything happen to go wrong in the future.

Common Types of Position Sensing Technology Used Today

February 21, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

From the name “position sensor”, anyone can infer that these devices have some relation to movement. To simplify the meaning of a position sensor, it is any mechanism capable of measuring the displacement or movement of an object with regard to its null position. The different types of motion detected by these sensors are linear, rotary, and angular. But this definition is not sufficient to understand how different types of position sensor technology work and their specific applications.

Potentiometers

Potentiometers refer to a specific category of sensors that operate using a particular working principle. Whether it is a tilt sensor or a linear sensor, potentiometers rely on a resistive track to detect motion. The resistive track is connected to a wiper which is also attached directly to the object being measured. As the object moves, the wiper moves along with it. This movement causes the resistance on the track to change as well. The motion of the object is proportional to the resistance change created by the track in relation to the wiper position.

Modifications in the resistive track enable the sensor to measure rotary or angular motion according to what is required by the application. One of the main advantages of a potentiometer is the simple assembly and relatively low cost.

Capacitive sensors

There are two configurations for capacitive position sensors:

  • Changing the dielectric constant. A capacitive sensor consists of two plates with a dielectric material that is connected to the object or device. The object’s movement will make the plates produce a dielectric constant.
  • Changing the overlap between plates. Another configuration for capacitive sensors is connecting the object to only one plate where an area between the two plates overlaps and moves along with the object. The resulting movement will also produce a capacitance change between these two plates.

Magnetostrictive sensors

A magnetostrictive sensor typically consists of a magnet, electronics, and waveguide. This type of position sensor relies on the use of a magnetic field in displacement measurement.

Other common sensor technologies used today include Hall-effect position sensors and optical position sensors. The working principle of each type of position sensor is a defining characteristic which directly impacts essential performance parameters like accuracy, repeatability, reliability, measurement range, and sensitivity to external factors.

Some specific examples of sensor applications include:

  • Processing and manufacturing machines
  • Medical and laboratory equipment
  • Aircraft and military equipment
  • Construction equipment
  • Automobiles and other vehicular applications
  • Machines used in various industries such as mining, utility, and agriculture

The underlying features of modern sensors have not changed in decades, but there are recent advancements in manufacturing and assembly which have paved the way to creating sensors that are more compact, robust, and reliable. Many sensors today which are made using high-grade alloys and metals can withstand harsh environments. Another development in position sensor technology is the development of non-contact sensors which eliminates the wear and tear factor produced by exposure to vibration, dust, and friction. For most industrial-grade machinery, non-contact position sensors such as LVDTS are the preferred sensing technology.

What Your Business Must Do to Stay Competitive

February 9, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

You are in business to make profits. Yet, to make profits, you must position your business for unfair advantages. Unfair advantages are advantages that are inaccessible to your competition. Ask yourself why the best ideas often flop or how average people can enjoy resounding success.

Competitive advantage is at the heart of standing out in business. A few ways to keep the competition behind include:

1. Pick a niche

It can be tempting to provide a broad range of services or products. This appears to give your brand the widest reach, but is not exactly true! You easily lose focus and spread your operations too thin. Why not channel your energies to a specific segment of the market? Only when you have gained credibility there, should you consider diversifying.

A small business often competes against bigger, more established brands. The way to win this fight is to attack strategically, winning key territory as you go along. Focus on your basic consumer demographic. This will earn you quick sales and revenue that enhance your ability to market and grow your following.

Dietrich Mateschitz did this with Red Bull. There was no specific market in mind and sales made little sense in the face of zero competition. Consumers struggled to say if Red Bull was a soft drink or sports stimulant. Mr Mateschitz reworked his strategy and defined his target–students.

All marketing resources were thrown at them–sponsorship, social media campaigns, you name it. The result? Sales exploded and inevitable growth happened. The best part? Red Bull earned a deserved loyal following, with a 50% market share in Canada and 46% in the US as of 2011.

Grab a niche and own it. Find untapped categories in your market; they always exist. Sell to that customer and grow from that base.

2. Knowing your strengths and playing to them

Truth be told, your competition is better some things than you are. In the same way, there are key areas in which your business is superior to theirs. Let’s assume your competition has a better product offered at a lower price point. Do you throw in the towel without a fight?

You need to realise this: no matter your limitations, you can still beat your competition. Find out where your brand excels. Your company can outperform on those points. These are simple things like customer service or brand consistency. They are the little elements that make a world of difference.

In identifying your strengths, you need to engage the power of storytelling. To consumers, every business exists to solve their problems. If it does not, it holds little value for them. What is your competitive angle? Why not flaunt it?

Telling a story in a way that matters to your customer gives you the edge to win them. This angle (your story) is the reason you started your business (your origin); the value your offerings provide–product story. Once you embrace and find your angle, your story can take any of the following shapes:

  • Premium Customer Service
  • Exciting custom packaging
  • Eco-friendly products
  • Rockstar team
  • Shipping options

You need to tell your customers why you are the preferred option. Apple and Sony use innovation as a competitive angle and this reflects in their marketing.

3. Streamline your operations

Your company must continually ask how it can maximise value and minimise waste. Value and waste cannot co-exist. A customer pays for features that matter to them. This is value. Anything else is waste. Technology can help you at every point of business to make you flexible and more reactive than your competitors. Using a cloud storage system can massively increase the data capability of your business, and allow you to access your files remotely, if necessary.

To determine your customers’ concept of value, engage them. Understand what makes them desire your product. Understand why they crave the competition’s products. If your clients do not desire a feature, it should not be part of your product.

4. Are your products worth the hype?

Human attention spans have continued to drop over the years. Microsoft has research to back this up. You have little time to show your customer your product is worth their attention now.

Your website copy should make promises focused on value and your products and services must be designed with the customer in mind, showcasing a clear difference from competitors’. If the customer is not a priority in your process, you stand every chance of losing them.

Cheaper + Better + Different is a tested product design formula that wins customers by hooking them as revolutionary and valuable.

5. Pursue large clients

Large-volume business comes from big clients. A big client base represents more business and higher revenues. Small businesses on the other hand, have more service issues than larger corporations who have well-defined systems in place.

Remember too, that your firm’s credibility is underlined by working with large brands. It easily becomes a huge selling point as you go to win business woo new clients. Large companies aren’t as unapproachable as you might believe. Your small size works in your favour, letting you move more quickly. You can continually innovate by thinking outside the box like entrepreneur David Zhao.

6. Know your numbers

You cannot afford to be in business and not know your numbers. These numbers determine the fate of your brand. Simple indices you cannot afford to ignore are:

ACV (Average Customer Value)–how much does the average customer spend over a given period?

CPA (Cost Per Acquisition)–what does it cost each time you to acquire a client?

ROI (Return on Investment)–how rewarding is each marketing campaign?

BE (Break even)–what volume of sales must your brand make to cover the cost of making sales?

Tracking these numbers will place you on a proactive pedestal such that you tweak your operations to improve them. Small improvements can easily put you miles ahead of your competition. Business is a game where you always want to come out on top, and true business satisfaction is not found in being content with crumbs.

7. Make relationships count!

A small business can enjoy the benefit of a personal relationship with customers. Bottlenecks and undue formality can choke your human element which many customers value, out of your buyer journey. Large businesses know extreme bureaucracy utterly hurts profits.

You can have the best of all worlds by planting a system that delivers better experiences and exceeds customer expectations. Responding timely to emails and requests may seem trivial, but they work wonders, just as “Thank you” notes and customer complaint resolutions mean the world to customers.

These are the elements that enhance your word-of-mouth marketing, online reviews, and social media ratings. StreetTalkLive has a wealth of material to educate you on the preferences of your individual customer.

Edging out the competition is a lifelong endeavour. The strategies outlined above should be adequately adapted to suit your situation.

5 Simple Interior Design Hacks That Can Boost Your Health

February 9, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

Exercise, good hygiene, and healthy eating are proven ways to enjoy good health. But following such a path requires work, commitment, and sacrifice. What if there was a way to improve your health without having to work at it? That’s exactly what you will find here – 5 simple hacks to make your home contribute positively to your mental and physical health!

Let’s get started

1.       Choose Colours Carefully

After a hard day’s work, you should return to a home that makes you feel at peace. This is an important part of managing your work-life balance and can be achieved with something as simple as using the right paint colour in your home.

Different colours have different effects on behaviour. For a home that reduces your anxiety and eases stress, aim for a colour palette that promotes a feeling of relaxation and serenity. Bright and warm colours such as bright yellow, orange, or red are not good for this.

Muted and neutral shades such as blue, green, grey, and whites evoke a sense of calm. The release of stress hormones is harmful to your health, so it’s best to avoid anything that can lead to such in your home.

You can use bright colours as accents and mix your muted paint shades with softer shades of bright colours. If you cant find something you like for the wall have apexmetalsigns.com make you a custom piece with the colors you want.

2.       Less harsh lighting

Natural light and artificial light affect the sleep cycle of individuals. For the sake of your health, use muted energy saving lights indoors, especially in the bedroom. Also, avoid using bright lights before you sleep. Dimmer switches give you more control over the level of lighting in your home.

Depending on natural light when it is available will help your circadian rhythms, boost your overall sense of wellbeing, and minimise the symptoms of depression.

3.       Nontoxic furniture

The foam used in furniture is most times treated with toxic substances which can prove injurious to your health. To protect yourself, switch out your furniture, especially your mattress for furniture that uses more natural materials. Talalay latex mattresses and memory foam are highly recommended.

4.       Potted plants

Potted plants, especially leafy ones, add vibrancy to your interior and improve your quality of life. This is because green plants extract carbon dioxide and other elements from the air and replace them with clean oxygen. This is great for your body and mind.

5.       Minimise clutter

A cluttered apartment reflects your mind, and a cluttered mind is a stressed mind. So, de-clutter. Asides the psychological aspect, a cluttered apartment provides hiding places for pests that carry disease. It’s also impossible to keep a cluttered home clean.

Apply these hacks and you can look forward to a stress-free home that contributes to your mental and physical wellbeing.

Aptitude Tests Making Hiring Easy

February 5, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

What are the bases that you are going to choose when you are thinking of recruiting a new employee for your company? We have a solution to your problem. The aptitude testing is the answer. The aptitude test is becoming very famous these days and many business companies are using this for their recruitment process, which helps them to have a better overall evaluation of candidate’s and also their suitability for the job that they will be applying for. They simply make the hiring process more successful.

What is the purpose?

As mentioned above, the aptitude tests which are taken by the company helps them to recruit the employee with the required calibre. These kinds of tests can be a good option for selecting the candidate. By this, the organization will be able to calculate the candidate future potential by having numerical reasoning, logical reasoning, and analysis section in the tests. They can totally check if the candidate is able to perform well even in the areas which are out of this comfort zone. This gives a clearer insight into the person.

So, what types of questions will be there. The basis of these tests is to test the ability of the candidates,so here the various types of aptitude tests, which are used in this process. They are named below:

1. Verbal Reasoning Tests

These are the tests which are there to test the employee understanding about the written texts and what kind of conclusion he can draw from the given written context. No matter what industry is going for the recruitment, the verbal test helps in the recruitment of the employees in a better way as the employer will get to know the thinking ability of the candidate by the choice he is going to make in these tests.

2. Numerical Reasoning tests

To get the information about a candidate’s general numerical aptitude, these standardized psychometric assessments are used by the organization while hiring the candidates. These tests are designed in such a way that it will gauge the candidates’ ability to go for the correct decisions or inferences when provided with the numerical or statistical data. It is done to make sure that the candidate is best fitted in the realistic workplace context.

3. In-Tray and E-Tray exercises

They are the standardized psychometric assessment tests that help an organization in gathering the information about a candidate’s general ability when given a situation to manage and respond to a series of different tasks, to negotiate the coming conflicting demands or analyse different priorities. Both these tests followed the fiction business scenarios which help in judging the candidates’ response to it. The main difference between these tests is that in E-Tray, the variant is presented on a computer and the responses are entered on-screen. While in the In-Tray exercise, it is based on a series of paper-based materials. These kinds of tests can be used for recruitment process or at any stage and even as a group exercise.

4. Mechanical reasoning tests

If the organization wants to check for the candidates’ ability and competency with mechanical concepts, this type of tests are being taken. Talking about the broader way, these kinds of test are done for the technical and engineering job positions usually. They include mechanical and engineering concepts and the questions which are related to them. The level of the tests is based on the position you are recruiting for. You can increase the difficulty level within the same time constraint.

5. Inductive Tests

They are the standardized psychometric assessment tests which are usually used when the job applications come up. These tests help the organization to know more about the candidate’s ability to solve problems. They are helpful in knowing the ability of the candidate to work flexibly when given the unfamiliar information and then find solutions. The people who score well in these tests generally have a greater capacity to think conceptually and analytically as well.

6. Mental Arithmetic Test

This test is usually done to check the candidate’s ability to do the basic numerical problems in no time. The basic numeracy is being checked and this kind of test can be categorized as a speed test also.

7. Vocabulary Tests

If an organization wants the information about a candidate’s general vocabulary size, these kinds of tests are done by the company.

Why avail?

This could be the biggest question in the minds of the people but we have a complete and satisfying answer for that. These tests will help the organization to look for the candidates who can showcase their personalities, use their own skills, abilities, and knowledge. Another fact that is needed to be considered and also important is that the candidate who is coming to the company is also able to look forward to the betterment of the company in the right manner. With different types of aptitude tests, you will be able to get all the valuable information about the new candidate and get to know all the behavioural and skills part of the person.

Not only this, but it is also cost-efficient. You need to hire a good person for the company and with these tests; you can totally rely upon the results. Indeed a personal interview is equally important as it can be a measure to see the confidence level of the person, so along with that, these tests also help you to find the best-suited guys for the job. Another benefit of using these tests is that, with the upcoming large opportunities for the job, there will be a large pool of applications as well. So it makes it hard to look for the deserving candidates. Hence, by using these tests, you will be able to filter out the most deserving candidates which are the right choice for the type of profile you are looking for.

This reduces the risk of the hiring of the wrong candidates due to the accuracy of the results. After all, to build a great business, great people are needed within the organization.

Brand Awareness: An Overview

February 2, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

Brand awareness is the component of your business that keeps it alive. A company only exists if it’s known or recognised by both investors and its clients. A long-lasting brand is one that’s known for its reliable service and ability to stay relevant even in today’s times.

The main components of brand recognition can be summarised into four aspects: the business title, logo, taglines, and its ad strategies. These four can be broken down to four central marketing practices that can help your customers remember and trust your brand name.

Formulating your logo

A logo is a representative of a brand’s mission and vision, what it stands for and what it aims to do. Some companies reference the logo to its founders’ surnames as a testament to a legacy of its tried and tested formula, while others use a literal or symbolic object to reference what they’re about. Others make a new word altogether to create a unique impression to their would-be customers.

Design and typography artists hold the creation of a brand logo to a high standard as it can make or break a company’s vision. Depending on the images or colours incorporated into a logo, a strong impression could be made on the ones who are willing to try the product or service.

Adapting a tagline

Your company tagline is usually paired up with your brand’s logo, but not always. Some brands are seen to have been changing and adjusting to current times by renewing or rethinking their brand slogans to be more relevant to today. A slogan usually incorporates a company’s mission and vision and puts it into easily digestible and memorable phrases. The catchier a motto is, the more likely it’ll be remembered and recalled by your customers.

Deciding on visuals

Promotional strategies vary in multiple ways, but the visual aspect of promotion is by far the most crucial factor in establishing a well-known brand. After the development of the television, TV ads and even ads from streaming services are much easier to recognise nowadays compared to radio promotions.

Dedicating your company’s visuals to memorable images that are in conjunction with your brand’s message can make for a compelling ad campaign. Simple icons are always better, especially if it’s an object that can be encountered daily. Attach a well-known personality heading the advertisement, and you’re sure to have high numbers due to your promo strategies.

Generating promotional materials

One of the more consistent modes of promotion is involving giveaway products. Several franchises, mostly restaurants and cafes, have taken it upon themselves to develop limited edition promotional materials such as tumblers, tote bags, and planners as a holiday giveaway. Services such as those offered by www.fyldepm.co.uk make the business marketing side of creating promotional products from key chains to flash drives accessible to bulk orders from companies who are in need of such items.

Besides hiding under the guise of being eco-friendlier in having reusable containers as promotional gifts, they’re also developing customer interaction by having them as freebies for promos or prizes through online contests.

Despite Our Multiplayer Gaming Trends, Single-Player Games are Coming Back

February 1, 2019 by Tristan Leave a Comment

Coming into 2018, there was a theory being spouted by big names in the gaming industry, such as Electronic Arts, that the single-player format was on its way out, with gaming transitioning to entirely multiplayer formats with future titles coming in the form of gaming as a service. The rise of the multiplayer titles based on the Battle Royale book helped their case.

But, as though they hadn’t seen the release schedule, 2018 fought back with an avalanche of almighty single-player titles, many of which came without a fleck of multiplayer but still sold incredibly well and earned bucket loads of critical acclaim. The likes of Monster Hunter World, God of War, Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption on release, Forza Horizon 4, Octopath Traveler, Pokemon Let’s Go, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are all very deep in, and focused on, single-player aspects and did incredibly well.

Last year was the year that the gaming industry proved that single-player games, story, and the art of making a top-class video game is still very popular in the current market, regardless of what trends and predictions may try to dictate. This year, the release schedule is filled with great games set to further cement this stance among gamers, with the following titles being among the very best.

Metro Exodus

Based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, the Metro series continues to go from strength to strength with the third part of the series, Metro Exodus, set to be the biggest and best of them all. The Metro games have always placed a strong emphasis on story and atmosphere, taking the form of linear shooters up until now. In Metro Exodus, players will give players more room to operate within the storyline, giving them open worlds to explore and complete tasks within in each mission.

Despite moving appearing to have moved away from its classic form of a claustrophobic horror-shooter type of game, the THQ Nordic release is still packed with all of the immersive elements that made it such a unique game in the somewhat overused post-apocalyptic genre, but giving the player more choice and customisable options along the way.

If you can’t wait for Metro Exodus’ 15th of February or fancy the single-player classics that came before it, it’s well worth getting the remastered version of the first two games in the double-feature Metro Redux.

Ghost of Tsushima

Following in the footsteps of God of War and Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima is another massive open-world, story-driven game that’s going to be exclusive to PlayStation. Rumour has it that this incredible-looking game will be out in 2019, but an official release date is yet to be announced.

In Ghost of Tsushima, you take on the role of the very last samurai on the island of Tsushima. The developers, Sucker Punch, claim that they’ve created gameplay mechanics that fully let you explore what it’s like to be a samurai, using swords, grappling hooks, and stealth to navigate your way through the challenges ahead.

It looks like a fantastic game that’s rich with impeccable graphics, fun gameplay, and a deep story which is all set within the very interesting theme of 13th Century Japan while playing as a samurai. Being among the most recognisable warriors in human history, it should come as no surprise that many games have been made with them at their centre. One of the most enjoyable and recent games of this genre is Playtech’s Pixel Samurai, which always makes for good use of a welcome bonus. But, given what we’ve seen so far, Ghost of Tsushima is set to be the very best samurai game yet.

Yoshi’s Crafted World

Nintendo always does well to release unique, exciting, and challenging games to their consoles. Now that the Nintendo Switch has proven to be so popular and so powerful, even more Nintendo-exclusive triple-A games are en route, with the hotly-anticipated Yoshi’s Crafted World set to be one of the very best.

The single-player puzzles game sees you take on the role of a Yoshi to collect items, solve puzzles, and push with the storyline of recovering the lost gemstones. The game’s unique pull comes from the specialised gameplay as a Yoshi, which includes gobbling up enemies and throwing eggs, as well as flipping the stage to progress and find hidden treasures. Best of all, like with many other top Switch games, it can be played as a couch co-op.

Set for release on the 29th of March this year, Yoshi’s Crafted World doesn’t really have an equivalent. But, if you want to get accustomed to the way of the Yoshi, you could always battle a huge roster of games stars with Yoshi as your hero in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as he’s a rather fun and powerful character to use.

These are just a few of the highlights set to come out in 2019 or perhaps early 2020, with the likes of Death Stranding, Cyberpunk 2077, Crackdown 3, Gears of War 5, Luigi’s Mansion, and Biomutant also on the way to hold single-player games in very high standing.
