Gun Lake Casino managed to raise approximately $47,920 for Toys for Tots campaign, which started on December 1 and ended on December 16. While making the announcement, the casino said this success would help hundreds of children within the local community receive presents this Christmas.
How the gifts were distributed
The campaign organizers made arrangements to distribute the gifts to needy children across the local community. The targeted areas included Van Buren, Allegan, and Ottawa counties. The gifts brought joy and positively impacted the local community.
Gun Lake Casino, the main donor of the campaign, is a tribal establishment run by the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians. Locally, they are often referred to as the Gun Lake Tribe. The casino’s location is midway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in Michigan.
Toys for Tots is an annual fund drive
Gun Lake Casino values the importance of giving and supporting needy society members. Gun Lake Casino’s CEO Sal Semola said that every year, the casino collaborates with the Marine Corps Lakeshore Toys for Tots in a lasting commitment to make sure they bring holiday gifts to needy children in the surrounding counties.
He added that the continuing collaboration is a testament to Gun Lake Casino’s commitment to bringing happiness and positive change to the communities it serves. Semola noted that the cooperative endeavor between GLC and the Marine Corps Lakeshore Toys for Tots is evidence of the principles both organizations have in common. Their focus is on the community.
Over 300 people attended the campaign launch
The campaign was launched at the 131 Sports Bar and Lounge on December 2 and attended by over 300 people. Families gracing this encouraging event showed their generosity through donating toys. They also received lovely bundles of holiday treats. They included a complimentary professional photograph with Santa, a delectable pancake brunch, adorned sugar cookies, and hot cocoa bar treats. Gun Lake Casino runs many community-focused programs, such as programs for retired people, shelters, and food pantries.
People were encouraged to donate by bringing in new, unwrapped toys as an added incentive during the campaign. They received a dollar-for-dollar return for every donated toy in the form of free slot spins up to $100. LCpl Larry Klunder of The Lakeshore Toys for Tots organization thanked the Gun Lake Tribe for their generosity during the holiday season.
