Arshad Madhani is an entrepreneur, based in the Atlanta area. He has worked with a wide array of companies so far in his professional career, and he continues to be one of the most successful professionals in his field. We sat down with him for a brief interview to see exactly what makes him successful, and how he balances work with life.
You are Entrepreneur, Specifically What Do You Do in that Field?
Specifically, I am a digital marketing consultant who helps a variety of clients in several different types of businesses. My goal is to always help every single client get a good return on every single ad that they run. If a person is unable to get value out of their advertising, it can be devastating for a business.
I have helped small businesses just beginning, and very established corporations as well. With the right type of knowledge with digital marketing, it can be applied to any size business out there.
Why Did You Choose an Entrepreneurial Path Over Other Paths?
I have always really enjoyed the ability to create your own path. Maybe that is why I selected being an entrepreneur in the first place. There are definitely safer options out there for sure, especially when starting out. You have to believe in yourself in order to be successful as an entrepreneur, but in the end it is worth it.
Freedom to take time off when needed is also a good thing for me in general. I have always felt like I do not enjoy being confined to a normal work schedule that so many people follow out there.
What Qualities Make for a Good Entrepreneur?
To be a great entrepreneur, there is definitely a need to be self-disciplined. If you cannot set a schedule for yourself, there is really no way to really have success. It is going to be extremely difficult, because there is really no one there saying you must work a set number of hours a day. On some days, I might only work a few hours, but there are some other days where I am working 12 or even 16 hours.
Being an entrepreneur means that you are responsible for your own success. That sometimes is not as glorious as it sounds, but those who put in the hardest amount of work are usually the ones who have success.
I See When You’re Not Busy with Work, You Enjoy Traveling. What Are Some of Your Favorite Destinations?
I am somebody who enjoys traveling to new places all the time. Since that is the case, I can’t really say I have a definitive favorite destination that I go to on a consistent basis. I do really enjoy Paris. It is perhaps my favorite overall city. It just seems to have a little bit of everything, and there is enough diversity now that really makes everyone feel welcome all around the world.
In the United States, my most memorable vacation was probably in San Diego, and it strictly comes down to the weather in that case. Maybe that is a place to retire down the road because there is very little negative to living there other than the cost of living of course.
What Are Some of Your Favorite Travel Tips?
I am relatively easy to please when it comes to travel, so I am not one to spend a lot of money on a ticket in general. My general rule of thumb is that if the flight is three hours or less, there is no reason to splurge for a more expensive ticket on an airline, like First Class. I am usually able to suck it up and get through a flight even if the leg room is lacking a little bit or the snack is nothing great.
There are also plenty of good deals to be found last minute if you are flexible. That is another perk of being an entrepreneur and setting your own schedule.
What Else Do You Enjoy Doing in Your Downtime?
I have been spending a lot of time recently working out and trying to stay in shape. I have always been a big believer in staying healthy, and sometimes busy schedules can get in the way. The focus has been on making sure that there is always time to get workouts in before or after work.
